The Daniel Island Kids Fishing Tournament Returns

Are you the parent of a young angler? Register to come out this Father’s Day, Saturday, June 16 to the Lake at Smythe Park to participate in the annual Daniel Island Kids’ Fishing Tournament. Presented by Scout Boats, this event is sponsored by the Daniel Island Inshore Fishing Club and benefits the Coastal Conservation Association.

The tournament is open to children (ages 5-15) of all Daniel Island residents and those who work on the island. Pre-registration is available for an entry fee of $5  through Monday, June 11. On-site registration is $8 and starts at 8:00 am, followed by lines in at 9:00 am. Lines out  is 12:00 pm, followed by an awards ceremony that will include refreshments donated by Daniel Island Publix.

Awards will be given for the biggest and most fish caught by species to two age groups: 5-9 and 10-15. The Grand Prize–a half-day charter for the winning angler and one adult with Captain Greg Peralta–goes to the biggest fish caught by any angler. There is also a Mystery Fish category.
