Golf Magazine Living Names Daniel Island Named Among America's 50 Best Golf Communities

March 24, 2006

Daniel Island has been named one of America’s best golf communities by a major golf lifestyle publication for the second time in as many months, earning a spot in Golf Magazine Living’s “50 Best Golf Communities in America.” The recognition comes on the heels of Travel + Leisure Golf’s selection of Daniel Island as one of “America’s Top 100 Golf Communities,” which was announced in the magazine’s January/February issue.

Daniel Island’s latest distinction was heralded in Golf Magazine Living’s premiere issue. The selection process considered numerous factors, including property values, quality of golf, and proximity to metro areas, health care and transportation.

“People who want to live in an upscale golf community today are looking for more than great golf,” said Matt Sloan, chief operating officer the Daniel Island Company, developer of the 4,000-acre island town in the city of Charleston. “Great golf may get someone’s attention, but today you need to offer a quality of life that meets consumers’ needs in a wide range of areas to really distinguish yourself.”

In addition to two 18-hole courses designed by Tom Fazio and Rees Jones, the Daniel Island Club offers members and their guests a 14-acre golf learning center, golf clubhouse and swim, tennis and fitness facilities. The island town, which has offered residents significant returns on their investment in residential property, also includes a mix of traditional neighborhoods, schools, medical facilities, restaurants, office buildings, churches and a modern supermarket.
