November Lowcountry Explorers Tour – Civil War Batteries Tour

The Low Country Explorer group is pleased to announce our next tour to The Dill Sanctuary on Thursday, November 21, 2019, from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
The largest area of privately protected land on James Island, the Dill Sanctuary is a 580-acre wildlife preserve on the Stono River, rich in historic and natural features. Museum staff will be on hand to discuss major accomplishments at the Sanctuary in the last several decades, including extensive archaeological research, preservation of the Civil War batteries at the site as well as natural resource management. Attendees will take a guided tour to Battery Pringle and Battery Tyne by an experienced guide.
Please dress weather-appropriate and wear trail-walking shoes. Please bring water and insect repellent.
Lunch will be at The Charleston Crab House at the completion of the tour.
