THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED DUE TO HURRICANE DORIAN
Held annually on Daniel Island, the 9/11 Heroes Run is a national 5K run/walk held by the Travis Manion Foundation and brings communities together to remember the sacrifices of the heroes of the September 11th attacks and wars since. The 9/11 Heroes Run has spread from a small grassroots event in one small community, to an event that spans over 50 cities around the world. Last year, more than 50,000 participants joined with their communities to run, volunteer, donate, cheer, but most of all: honor our nation’s heroes. This year, on the weekends surrounding the 18th anniversary of 9/11 there will be more than fifty 9/11 Heroes Runs held in communities across the country and abroad.
Through a progressive grant process, the Travis Manion Foundation partners with local first responder agencies, to assist hometown heroes, in the communities that host a 9/11 Heroes Run. Since 2012, the 9/11 Heroes Run – Charleston has partnered with 12 different first responder agencies in the Lowcountry, and has donated nearly $120,000 to local first responder agencies in Charleston! Proceeds from this event are specifically used to purchase additional, life-saving equipment for local heroes to utilize, while serving the citizens of the community! The Charleston event has also made a significant impact across the country, by donating an additional $118,000+ back to the Travis Manion Foundation, in support of their nationwide programs for veterans and Gold Star families! Join the 9/11 Heroes Run – Charleston in honoring the fallen, while also assisting true American heroes!
