Lunchbox Learning is a quarterly program where the Daniel Island POA brings in a speaker to talk about a specific topic. We will provide lunch for those who opt in or participants may choose to bring their own bagged lunch.
Our presenter for May’s program will be Al Miller with the Sites and Insights Tours, Inc. in Charleston. Al Miller, a local historian, licensed tour guide and author will present a 2-hour presentation of the impact of the Gullah-Geechee Culture, Rice and George Gershwin’s opera “Porgy & Bess” to the Charleston area and world.
Al is the owner of Sites and Insights Tours, Inc. which focuses on guided tours in the City of Charleston and James & Johns Islands on the Black History, Gullah-Geechee Culture and Porgy & Bess history. He has recently completed his first book, “Tourists Can Say The Dardnest Things! Exploring Historic Charleston, South Carolina.”
Lunch will be brought in from Verde in Mount Pleasant who specialize in salads and wraps.
