The Pumpkin Walk is an annual Daniel Island Tradition! Smythe Lake will be lined with carved pumpkins and the path will be illuminated at 7 PM on OCT 26. This event is put on by the residents of DI. What the committee is asking of you, the resident, is to bring a carved pumpkin on the day of the event to the volunteers standing by at Smythe.
Each pumpkin should be carved and lit with a LED style tea light. Pumpkins are due to the park starting at 12 PM and no later than 4 PM. Volunteers will place your pumpkin along the path for you. The volunteers will also turn on your lights right before the event starts so that when you arrive for the event – the pumpkins will be lit and ready for you to see!
The event will include food vendors, local business owners providing treats, and giveaways, as well as face painting, henna art, and an island favorite – s’mores on the open fire pits donated by the Daniel Island POA! You are encouraged to drop your lawn chairs off to enjoy the festivities, picnic style, sometime before 6 PM. The event lasts until 10 PM, at which point you may pick up your pumpkins to return home with for your own porch.
Any pumpkins remaining at 9 AM on SUNDAY morning will be donated to the local farmers or trashed. DON’T BE LATE FOR PICK UP IF YOU EXPECT TO BRING YOUR PUMPKIN HOME! Remember, this is community led, so thank the volunteers you see around the event, they do it on their own time!
The Pumpkin Walk Committee would also like to thank our sponsors – Daniel Island Dentistry for the Luminary donation, UPS for their print donation and the Daniel Island POA for their donations and efforts in making this event possible.
