March Lowcountry Explorers Tour: They Wear the Ring, The Citadel
March 6 @ 11:45 am - 3:45 pm
Come explore the history, tradition and the legacy of the mighty Citadel through a one-hour guided tour with Lee Ann Bain who will bring the history of The Citadel to life. We will conclude our tour with the Friday Dress Parade consisting of 2,000 South Carolina Corp of Cadets marching onto Summerall Field while the Regimental Band and Pipes perform and canons are fired.
The Citadel ring symbolizes the history of the school, of the State of South Carolina and of the ideals on which the college was found. As Pat Conroy said of the words he wrote in Lords of Discipline, “I wear the ring” that … “sums up better than anything how I felt and how other people feel about this college.”
For this trip, an early lunch at Taco Boy (217 Huger Street, Charleston) will precede the tour at the Citadel.
We must meet a minimum registration number of 10 attendees. If we do not have at least 10 attendees, the tour may be cancelled. If the tour is cancelled, you will be notified via email and refunded your full amount. If you can no longer attend the tour, refunds are only given if there is a wait list.
