Beginning July 1st – July 7th, the Exchange Club of Daniel Island will proudly host their 3rd annual Field of Honor® display of U.S. flags. The Stars and Stripes will stand posted in a memorable display of red, white and blue on the grassy lawn of River Landing Drive. 500 full sized flags will fly on seven and a half foot flagpoles to honor your heroes including military, veterans, first responders, teachers and home town heroes.
The Daniel Island display is a gift to the community made possible through donations, sponsorships and the efforts of many dedicated volunteers. You can show your support and gratitude by sponsoring a flag or making a donation HERE. For $25 per flag you can honor individuals who, through their service and sacrifice, have become heroes in your life. If you prefer, stop by our on site sales tent to place your order in person. The on site sales tent will be located at the Field of Honor® on River Landing Drive and is scheduled as follows:
Flag sponsors may pick-up their sponsored flags to keep and display as a memento of this year’s event or the flags may be donated back to the Exchange Club for use next year. Pick up time is Sunday July 8th between 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Field of Honor® site.

Important Reminders For Smythe Park After Parade Concerts and Fireworks
We are not allowing personal tents to be put up in Smythe Park for this event. You are welcome to bring chairs, blankets and tables. We expect a very large turnout which we always have for this event and we would ask that residents not begin setting up until the day of the event which would be anytime on Tuesday, July 3rd. This is the same policy that we used last year and it worked well. We need every inch of space we have in the park for the attendees and for our vendors and activities. Personal golf carts will not be allowed in the park – those should be parked in the Daniel Island school parking lots or on the streets surrounding Smythe Park.
Traffic Alert – Intermittent Street Closure Notice for Daniel Island Annual Patriotic Community Parade on Tuesday, July 3rd
The Daniel Island Community 3rd of July parade route from Etiwan Park to Smythe Park will require several intermittent street closures again this year, along the southbound lane of Daniel Island Drive (heading to Smythe Park from Seven Farms Drive). The northbound lane of Daniel Island Drive will remain open (heading to Seven Farms Drive from Smythe Park). These intermittent street closures will take place from approximately 5:00 – 5:45 pm. The City of Charleston has permitted the parade and the City of Charleston Police Department will be coordinating and executing the street closure process. We appreciate your patience during this time in order for us to have safe passage of our parade participants/residents during this annual event.

Daniel Island July 3rd Fireworks Show at Smythe Park – Tuesday, July 3rd – 9:15 pm
Fireworks will illuminate the sky at Smythe Park and the lake will dance and glisten as we present our finale performance on Tuesday, July 3rd beginning at 9:15 pm. Join us in the park or delight in the show from your porch for those of you who live around the lake! Zambelli, one of the largest fireworks companies in the world, will once again dazzle us with their pyrotechnic expertise as they shoot the fireworks from the grassy common area along the lake side on Smythe Street.
Please note that due to city and state fireworks regulations, access to this area where the fireworks will be shot from will not be allowed. During the fireworks show, Smythe Street from Daniel Island Drive to Pierce Street will be closed to vehicular or pedestrian access. This closure should last approximately 1 hour. Once the “all clear” has been given by the fire department officials, this area will once again be opened. Thank you for your understanding regarding this very important safety measure and please plan accordingly.
Should you wish to bring your pet with you in the parade and to the concerts at Smythe Park on Tuesday, July 3rd – we would suggest that you take your pet home prior to the fireworks beginning at 9:15 pm since they are more sensitive to loud noises.
