IMPORTANT UPDATES FOR 9/11 HEROES RUN – CHARLESTON:
The 8th Annual 9/11 Heroes Run – Charleston will now be held SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 17TH at 2 PM!!!
PACKET PICK-UP & WALK-UP REGISTRATION:
(Simmons Park, next to Charleston Fire & Police Dept – 235 Seven Farms Drive, Daniel Island)
Saturday, November 16th (10 AM – 6 PM)
Sunday, November 17th (11:30 AM – 2 PM)
Event parking will be available in the parking lot behind Dockery’s, located at 880 Island Park Drive. A complimentary shuttle service will be offered for your convenience from 11:30 AM until 4:30 PM.
Opening Ceremonies will begin at 1:30 PM, in front of the Charleston Fire & Police Dept. Opening Ceremonies will include presentation of the flags, bagpipe performances, National Anthem and personal speeches by our Special Guests of Honor. The race will begin immediately following, at 2 PM.
The Awards Ceremony will take place at 3 PM in Simmons Park. Participants are encouraged to stick around for the awards ceremony, and to cheer on those that receive one. There are over 75 Top Finisher medals, in addition to awards for Top Overall Team, Top Military Team, Top Law Enforcement Team, Top Fire Department Team, Top Emergency Medical Services Team, Most Patriotic Team, Most Patriotic Individual and Top Individual Fundraiser!
RAFFLES & GIVEAWAYS:
There will be TONS of amazing raffles to giveaway on race day! Most raffle entries are just $1 and all forms of payment are accepted. Raffle winners will be drawn and announced at the Post-Race After Party at Dockery’s at 6 PM!
GORUCK participants wanting to be considered for medal placement in that division will need to bring their qualifying Ruck, backpack, gear and/or other qualifying weight to the Weigh-In tent next to Packet Pick-Up on race morning! All those who wish to qualify for medal consideration will need to be checked in, weighed and confirmed as eligible no later than 1:15 PM!!! For full GORUCK rules, email Charleston@911heroesrun.org.
This event is STROLLER-FRIENDLY. The coordinators ask that all participants using strollers line up in the back of the crowd at the Start Line. NO BIKES ARE ALLOWED! This event is also PET-FRIENDLY. If you plan to bring a pet, it is required that they be up to date on all vaccinations and that they are non-aggressive, under any circumstances. There will be large crowds, loud noises and young children so please use your best judgment when deciding to bring your pet. All pets are required to be kept on a leash at all times, and that all pet owners clean up after their pet PROMPTLY!
Seven Farms Drive between the intersections of River Landing Drive and Pier View Street will be closed from 1 PM until 3 PM. Other streets involved with our race route will close at approximately 2 PM, and will be reopened once the last participant clears that section of the course. These streets include Seven Farms Drive, River Landing Drive and Daniel Island Drive. Please DO NOT utilize any of the street parking along ANY of these roads, for the safety of our participants!
POST-RACE AFTER PARTY:
Join in for the official 9/11 Heroes Run – Charleston After Party at Dockery’s on Daniel Island! Get out of the heat and rest your feet from 4 PM – 7 PM. Be sure to bring your race bibs for a chance to get a little something extra from Dockery’s! They’ll have music and entertainment by Mix 95.9 and “Mike The Guy”, as well as raffle drawings at 6 PM!
