Hurricane Dorian and Trash Pick Up

As you are all aware, the City of Charleston has notified us that trash and yard debris has been suspended on Daniel Island and in other parts of the City, until further notice.

If you have placed your garbage cans or yard debris or any other loose materials at the curb for pickup, you are asked to bring in these items and place them inside your garage or a secured/fenced in area until we have received word as to when pickup will occur. Please do not leave these items out at the street, curb or driveway in anticipation that they will be picked up.

The City and the DIPOA are again reminding all citizens to clear these items from the street, curb driveway, as these items can become projectiles, will litter the community and will likely block storm drains and inhibit drainage if left at these locations.

Trash cans are one of the first items that end up being blown over and the amount of trash and debris that could potentially litter our community – is significant – thanks for making this a priority “TO DO” item today.

If you have already evacuated and are not on the Island to be able to accomplish these requests, please ask a neighbor to do this for you.

If you are a neighbor who is still at your home and has not evacuated yet and feels like extending some help to a fellow neighbor who has already evacuated, your help would be greatly appreciated!
