Please Join Us in Aiding the Hurricane Dorian Recovery Efforts in the Bahamas

The devastation and needs resulting from Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas are evident and heartbreaking. There are many good appeals to raise funds for hurricane relief. One option we invite you to consider is a donation to three verified charities via the Daniel Island Community Foundation, a tax deductible 501C3 organization. The Daniel Island Community Fund will match up to $5,000 of donations per organization made by residents and friends, which increases the impact of a donation. Donations will be accepted at the POA office through the end of the day, Friday, October 18th.

Donations made to the DI Community Foundation will be directed to the following organizations: American Red Cross, Water Missions International, and Team Rubicon. American Red Cross is coordinating basic human needs at shelters; Water Missions International is providing emergency safe water solutions to people, and Team Rubicon, a national nonprofit organization, is deploying military veterans to aid first responders and medical professionals.

We have received our first match donation from the Daniel Island Rotary Club of $3,000; $1,000 per each relief organization. Thank you for always being the first to step up, Daniel Island Rotary Club. Many thanks to Benefitfocus and Dockery’s for their donations of $5,000 each. The quick commitments of these generous donors boosts our total to an astounding $13,000 within the first few hours of fundraising!

Let’s continue to work together as a community to surpass our minimum goal of $15,000!

You can donate by dropping a check off at the Daniel Island POA Office, 130 River Landing Drive, Suite 1-C. Checks should be made out to the Daniel Island Community Foundation and note Dorian Relief. (Checks are preferred to avoid processing fees for electronic donations). Donations will be accepted at the POA office through the end of the day, Friday, October 18th.

The Daniel Island Community Foundation is a 501C3 organization that was created to promote social welfare, lessen the burdens of government and provide affordable residential housing and facilities for persons of limited financial means. Partnering with the Daniel Island Community Fund, the Daniel Island Community Foundation hopes to grow as a resource for nonprofit initiatives that Daniel Island residents are interested in promoting or funding.

Daniel Island residents are generous and caring. Thank you for your support of this community initiative.

As of Tuesday morning, October 15th, we have raised a total of $18,745 to aid The American Red Cross, Team Rubicon, and Water Missions International in their Hurricane Dorian Relief efforts in the Bahamas.
