Where to Retire? Daniel Island A Top 50 Community

July 29, 2015

Daniel Island has once again been named among the “50 Best Master-Planned Communities in the U.S.” by Where to Retire magazine. Published every other year, this comprehensive list is compiled following careful investigation by editorial staff, who pay particular attention to each community’s access to opportunities for healthy living, social and community groups and diverse recreational amenities. Communities in 16 states were included on this year’s list.

Island resident Karen Papania, who was interviewed for the story, retired here from New Jersey with her husband, Jim, in 2012. They were looking for a warmer climate, but still wanted a change of seasons. And they most definitely did not want to live in an age-restricted community. Gardening and golf are among the activities that have kept them active and engaged on Daniel Island, and they’ve enjoyed meeting many new friends.

“You can be sitting on your porch, and people walk by and you start chatting with them. It has that Southern charm and appeal,” says Karen in the story. “Everyone is looking to meet new people because most people did not know anyone when they moved here.”

We wholeheartedly believe that you will be hard pressed to find a more active and friendly community to retire to, and are thrilled that Daniel Island is once again being recognized on this list!
