Daniel Island Builders Give Back
In addition to constructing the finest homes in the Lowcountry, Daniel Island’s builders are committed to giving back. There are countless examples of how they’ve helped those in need during the past two decades of Daniel Island’s development. From donating custom-built playhomes to raffle for charity at the island’s Park Day festival, to providing supplies and labor for critical home repairs in the neighboring Wando and Cainhoy communities, they play an important role in contributing to Daniel Island’s spirit of giving back. Here are just a few recent highlights:
- This summer, Structures Building Company and JacksonBuilt Custom Homes came together to participate in a “Home Builders Blitz” project, building a home from scratch within a week (see photo above). The two companies combined their staff and connections to secure donated supplies and labor. The project was a group effort to create a home for a nearby Awendaw resident and her teenage son who were previously living in insecure housing.
- As part of its 40th anniversary this year, David Weekley Homes held the “World’s Largest Parade of Homes,” and donated $5 for each of the more than 7,200 visitors who stopped by their model or Showcase Homes in cities across the country in April to local charities. In the Lowcountry, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Carolina Youth Development benefited from the initiative.
- The Coastal Carolinas division of the PulteGroup has built a mortgage-free home for deserving veterans every year for the last three years. Last year, in addition to donating the land, building the home and fully decorating it, PulteGroup hosted two fundraisers that raised over $25,000 for the purchase of technology items, home essentials, play equipment and other supplies for the family.
- Daniel Island builder Max Crosby Construction joined forces with Daniel Island Real Estate to raise $20,000 for the Greater Carolinas Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society at tours of the Coastal Living Showhome on Daniel Island in 2013.
Many thanks to our builders for all they do to give back to our community!
