Pirates! Warships! Merchant vessels! The ocean and rivers surrounding Charleston and Daniel Island have seen plenty of action and lots of history. Cannons roared and ports were blockaded.
The schooners, sloops, brigs and cutters were all part of a powerful trade for generations and without the help of men such as Daniel Island’s own Paul Pritchard and his shipyard, this industry would not have been such a powerful force in local history.
Come experience our nautical heritage as David Silliman takes us on a visual journey of maritime history from 1670-1865. David is a member of the Executive Committee of the Carolina Yacht Club and Chairman of its Fine Arts Committee.
