By now, you’ve surely heard about the Great American Eclipse coming to town on August 21. But is it safe to view? What’s causing it and why are eclipses so rare? Have these questions and more answered by a team of students led by a professional astrophysicist. The workshop will include pre-eclipse solar viewing through telescopes, a visual presentation on the timeline, history and culture surrounding eclipses, a discussion and instruction on eclipse viewing safety and construction of safe solar viewing boxes. All participants will receive a pair of solar viewing goggles. Space for this workshop is limited.
Bring your own, empty cereal or shoe box should you wish to make a solar viewing box.
